Paella at Paddy Hills
The buff brought me to Paddy Hills after I had a particularly tough October. It's nestled in a private housing estate, so it may be a little inconvenient to get there with public transport. From Haw Par Villa MRT it's a 10 - 15 minute walk in.
The Paella ($29) had clams, unagi, scallops, and prawns. It was flavourful, slightly sourish (maybe from the lemon) and tangy. The scallops and unagi were well-cooked and tender, but the clams were not very good according to the buff, since I don't eat clams. This was much better than the one sold at Serenity - I once had a terribly expensive and dry paella there, ironic for a Spanish restaurant. It was $50 for a serving for 2, but it wasn't worth the cost.

This paella was served in a huge bowl so it looks very underwhelming. It might not be enough for those with big appetities during dinner.

The Roasted Chicken ($22) with Romesco, Pumpkin, and Roasted Grapes was so tender and juicy and awesome when eaten with the dip of pumpkin and romesco sauce together. It was interesting to eat roasted grapes - they were piping hot and sweet, reminding me of roasted tomatoes, just sweeter.

The buff also ordered 2 bottles of Rochefort 6 ($12 each) and they were good. We saw lots of people around us having the Squid Ink Tagliatelle ($29) that was fresh pasta, scallop, ikura (salmon roe), tobiko (flying fish roe), & mentaiko (pollock and cod roe) on the menu, so it had to be one of their signature dishes. Apparently only 30 servings are made a day. I'll try it the next time I'm there. The Man Tou Sliders ($28) too - 2 beef sliders, unagi fries, and salad - what a cute local twist to Western tapas!
They serve Asian tapas in the evenings, and cafe fare in the mornings.
